Christ Redeemer - Rio de Janeiro Brazil

Art Deco-style statue of Jesus, Christ Redeemer was inaugurated in 1931, standing at 38 meters (125 ft) tall, atop of Corcovado (”hunchback”) mountain overlooking Rio de Janeiro. Built with reinforced concrete it is coated with soapstone, which has the ability to handle extreme weather. It is a powerful symbol of Christianity; and became an icon of the city and symbols of the great warmth of Brazilian people.
