A source of inspiration for modern stadiums, the Colosseum was the great amphitheater for gladiator contests and public spectacles in the arena of history. Standing at 48 meters (157.5 ft.) high, 188 meters (617 ft.) long, and 156 meters (512 ft.) wide, the 80 arches on each first three levels, and the wooden arena floors was covered the with sand. It was designed with levels to separate the classes in society, emperor’s box, Roman senators, aristocrats, and other levels of citizens. Colosseum is still considered as a one of the greatest open amphitheater ever built regardless of country, it is the blood shed in the bullring.
